Definition of Plant-derived

Broadly speaking, plant-derived refers to all substances directly extracted or derived from plants, including but not limited to plant tissue, plant extracts, plant secondary metabolites, etc. These substances can be natural or subject to certain processing or modification.

From an ecological perspective, the substances and energy derived from plants are the foundation of the earth’s ecosystem. Through photosynthesis, plants convert solar energy into chemical energy, producing food and oxygen crucial to animals and humans.
